METRON EVENT: MLK CENTER AND CENTER FOR CIVIL AND HUMAN RIGHTS

We had an excellent visit today to Dr. Martin Luther King's birthplace and the MLK jr Center for Nonviolent Social Change...we also visited historic Ebenezer Baptist Church and the crypt of Dr. and Mrs. King...

Then we took a new, hi-tech Atlanta streetcar over to Centennial Park to visit the new Center for Civil and Human Rights...it was an amazing experience, especially because the remaining, original 'Freedom Riders' were also visiting today! We watched them as they located their mug-shots on the exhibit (see pics), and then watched the video of the March on Washington with some of them...my granddaughter, Sofia, sat at the Woolworth Lunch Counter exhibit beside one of the women who actually was a part of the famous sit-in in 1960...it was honor to be in the presence of these American heroes, and to shake their hands and thank them for their awesome contribution to humanity...

It was a very powerful experience, and a perfect day!
