KARMA, THE LAW(S) OF ATTRACTION, AND THE SCRIPTURES

This month at METRON Community our topic is 'KARMA AND THE CHRIST-ETHIC'...we'll be discussing the concept of Karma as it relates to brain function, and we'll also be examining the connection between Karma, Quantum Physics and the Law(s) of Attraction...Karma is defined as many things..some say it’s definition is simply: You get what you put out...whatever you release into the universe comes back to you in one way or another...Jesus said, "Blessed (happy, to be envied, and spiritually prosperous—with life-joy and satisfaction in God’s favor and salvation, regardless of their outward conditions) are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy!" (Matthew 5:7 - Amplfied Bible)...He actually talked a lot about Karma...He said that you reap what you sow...He said that if you live by the sword you die by the sword (in other words, what you put out is returned to you)...He said that a person will be forgiven in direct proportion to the way that they forgive others...even if the Bible is unfamiliar territory to you, no doubt you are still aware of the famous line in The Lord's Prayer, "And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us"...

Karma means that we can expect the same result when we do something for or against another..this is like the Law(s) of Attraction in some ways...if you think about a person with a good or bad intention for them, you are sending energy at that moment that will ultimately return and affect you...

Interestingly, both of these passages from the Gospels in The Message Bible use the word "boomeranging", which is very much a Karmic idea...

“Don’t pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults— unless, of course, you want the same treatment. That critical spirit has a way of boomeranging."
(Matthew 7:1, 2 - The Message)

“Don’t pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults—unless, of course, you want the same treatment. Don’t condemn those who are down; that hardness can boomerang. Be easy on people; you’ll find life a lot easier. Give away your life; you’ll find life given back, but not merely given back—given back with bonus and blessing. Giving, not getting, is the way. Generosity begets generosity.”
(Luke 6:37, 38 - The Message)

The concept of Karma on its most basic level is found in other places in the Scriptures, as well...in this passage from Paul's second Epistle to the Church at Corinth he talks about generous, Karmic financial giving, and how it releases abundance to and for the giver...

"[Remember] this: he who sows sparingly and grudgingly will also reap sparingly and grudgingly, and he who sows generously [that blessings may come to someone] will also reap generously and with blessings. Let each one [give] as he has made up his own mind and purposed in his heart, not reluctantly or sorrowfully or under compulsion, for God loves (He takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or to do without) a cheerful (joyous, “prompt to do it”) giver [whose heart is in his giving]. And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation]. As it is written, He [the benevolent person] scatters abroad; He gives to the poor; His deeds of justice and goodness and kindness and benevolence will go on and endure forever! And [God] Who provides seed for the sower and bread for eating will also provide and multiply your [resources for] sowing and increase the fruits of your righteousness [[which manifests itself in active goodness, kindness, and charity]. Thus you will be enriched in all things and in every way, so that you can be generous, and [your generosity as it is] administered by us will bring forth thanksgiving to God."
(II Corinthians 9:6-11 -Amplified Bible)

Again, the concept of Karma is expressed in a variety of ways, but the simplest is, what we do to another returns to us, and that we can become stuck on the wheel of Karma, continually repeating the past (or what the Scriptures call "strongholds")...this idea is expressed throughout Inspired Writing, particularly in the teachings of Jesus...in classical physics there is the principle that an object at rest stays at rest, and an object in motion stays in motion unless acted upon by an unbalanced force...in Quantum Mechanics, the observation has been made, as we have discussed, that how we observe determines what we see...Jesus said "Blessed are in the pure in heart, for they shall SEE God"...Paul said, "To the pure in heart, all things are pure..."...this is reminiscent of the Anais Nin quote which says, "We don't see the world as it is, we see it as we are"...you could easily add to that that we don't see God as "He" is, but as we are...that's why David said in the Psalms, "To the pure you show yourself pure, but to the devious you show yourself shrewd" (Psalms 18:26 - NIV)...

The idea of our relationship to God being absolutely determined by our relationship to one another is the central theme of the Gospel..."As you have done it unto the least of these, you have done it unto Me"..."And the Second is like unto it: Love your neighbor as you love yourself"...

Karma...Quantum Physics...Law(s) of Attraction...all these things are connected, and they are confirmed in the Scriptures...what we are constantly sending out to the Universe is what is constantly coming back to us...Quantum Physics is really all about waves of energy and how we observe them...when we observe these waves with love and compassion and generosity, we create the reality that is most loving, compassionate and generous for ourselves...this may in fact be the thing that is determining everything about the quality of our lives...the Ministry of Reconciliation brings all these concepts together, and can make our lives so much better...ultimately, they can make the world a better place...
